Hunkering Down
What I will Miss
Regular routine days without panic and a crazed news cycle
Enjoying contact with people without worry
Not worrying about people suffering physically, emotionally and financially
Being able to make plans
Seeing Jerry Seinfeld tomorrow night at the Beacon Theater
Watching the New York Mets have an awesome season and eating a Shake Shack burger at the stadium
What Will Still be
Crocuses in the backyard that are already blooming, purple and white
Daffodils that are growing their stems taller
Tulips any week now
And then Azaleas in early May, perhaps sooner this year
Peonies bursting in shades of pink and magenta come June
Coneflowers, my favorite, popping out in June and continuing on
Hydrangeas, dahlias, I love them all.
Nature’s garden, I sure hope, will still be.
Lovely way to look for the good in this crazy time.
ReplyDeleteI was outside on this beautiful afternoon soaking up some sun. And, I thought the same...so much fear and disappointment but then there are the constants: a beautiful blue sky, the sound of children playing next door, gentle breezes. The colors of nature will lift our spirits. Looking forward to a strong Mets season too!

ReplyDeleteHang in there.
Thanks for the reminder of what is still here for our enjoyment in these most unsettling times.
ReplyDeleteI love this perspective and this format. There is so much to miss yet so much to hold onto and be grateful for!
