Wednesday Morning

There’s this incredible walking path that runs adjacent to the beach. It is filled with palm trees and exquisite green bushes. It is an oasis of peace and solitude, but it is also filled with the energy of morning runners, bikers, and walkers. This morning, after viewing the sunrise from the balcony, I took a long walk on that path. The warm, breezy ocean air can’t help but invigorate the soul.

After, one daughter and I went to morning meditation which was hosted on a rooftop in the hotel we are staying at. The instructor looked and spoke like Penelope Cruz. Her tee shirt had the words YESTERDAY, NOW, and TOMORROW listed in a row, with yesterday and tomorrow crossed out.  NOW is all that matters. “Take a deep breath in, slowly exhale. Focus on this moment. Allow all other thoughts to disappear.”

We had brunch outside at Pura Vida, a heavenly outdoor venue with couches, pillows, and tables. Googling pura vida, it means “pure life” or “simple life,” and apparently it’s more than a phrase - it’s a way of life. We ordered avocado toast and overnight oats with shaved coconut and chia seeds, topped with strawberries, blueberries, and vegan granola, drizzled with almond butter.

This is some fun girls’ trip. It’s wonderful to be with my two daughters and celebrate life in these precious moments.

  1. How wonderful to be enjoying such beauty and peace with your daughters! I hope you soak it all up! (Funny how now you'll have so many upbeat, optimistic things to write about .....as the SOLSC ends tomorrow! )

  2. Yup, sounds like 'now' is/was excellent. Enjoy your mindful time in that moment. And when life shakes you out of it, temporarily, you've got this slice to revisit as a beacon.
