3 Things that made me happy today

Spring and Crocuses

Today’s morning walk confirmed that crocuses and daffodils have indeed made their comeback. A few pink and blue hyacinths are starting to pop. The beginning of the walk was chilly as is often the case here on the south facing shore of Long Island. New York City the other day was in the 70s, and we were in the 50s. We are not that far away but the ocean breezes can be off-putting. By the end of the walk, I had peeled off many layers and enjoyed the sunlight that beamed from above. At last – warmth. Spring will be more gloriously appreciated this year than ever. I applaud its arrival, and hope it is here to stay.

The Mets!!

I only saw the bottom of the first inning, as my husband happened to remember and put the TV on at that moment. It was 2-0 and the Mets hadn’t come up yet to bat. What ensued was a spellbinding first inning of the new season where the entire Mets roster got up to bat. First came Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto who both got on base. Next came Bo Bichette, a much-touted newcomer, and miraculous things just kept happening like the opposing team lost two easy fly balls, and then it was 5-2 and the pitcher was taken out. Such a fun opening day inning! It was all I needed to welcome this new baseball season. I had to leave but heard on my drive home that they won 11- 7. Yeah. Let’s go Mets! (I will miss Pete Alonzo, however, who was traded to Baltimore.)

Dinner Plans!

My dinner with Wendy was such a treat. We don’t see each other that often, but when we do, it is always special. We tend to meet at the same restaurant and spend hours sharing updates about our families and our lives. Our relationship goes way back to when our daughters were in first grade together. Tonight’s dinner was 3 hours long, with lots of conversations on so many varied topics while savoring delicious Italian food and wine. It was time well spent.

  1. Those are lovely things to make you happy. My husband is a Mets fan but there are not many around where we live, so nice to hear your excitement in the game. And you dinner with an old friend sounds so nice and special. A good day.
