Bathing Suit Shopping

Today I needed to buy something that would reassure me that spring and summer are not far away. Too early to even think of going to the plant shop.

So I went bathing suit shopping. (Cue summer.) I went to warmer climates a couple of times this winter and realized each trip that I really needed new bathing suits. Before the trip, I’m too busy attending to getting things ready and taking care of what needs to be taken care of before I leave.  It’s too late when I realize my bathing suit choices are old and not ready for prime time.

I can rarely buy clothes online. I just don’t have a size that I can reliably order that will fit. When it comes to bathing suits, it’s that, times 10.

I did buy a bathing suit today, in person, in a real store. Even then, I settled. I bought a tankini, the kind with a separate top that covers a lot, and a separate bottom. I debated for a while whether this was truly the one. I decided it was pretty close.

When I checked out and said to the cashier, “There’s no such thing as a perfect bathing suit,” she laughed and agreed.

  1. "...my bathing suits are old and not ready for prime time." I love that line and find it very relatable. I'm glad you found a bathing suit. I can't decide which I hate shopping for more...bathing suits or jeans.
