Changes are Coming

“All good with the baby,” my younger daughter just texted, after her pregnancy scan.

“That’s wonderful!  I love him already!” I texted back.

“Yay!!!” my older daughter texted, and her husband ‘loved’ the original text. And then my younger daughter ‘loved’ my comment. And it went on.

She is in her second trimester, and we are rejoicing at all the positive reports that come our way. It is her first baby.

My older daughter is also pregnant at the exact same time, expecting her second. We have found ourselves in baby world here, with two pregnant women due towards the end of September.

The same kind of close timing surrounded their engagements and wedding, even though they are 3 years apart. My younger daughter was about to be engaged, when my older daughter beat her to it. Then came the weddings 9 months apart. Both girls are in their 30s, so it’s no surprise that life moves on, but it all happened pretty quickly. And here come the babies.

                                                         Our first grandson

It’s a new time for our family. I hope to embrace all the changes that are forthcoming, as we (hopefully) welcome 3 little grandsons to our 2026 Thanksgiving table. I am most thankful.

  2. Congratulations! You are going to be a very busy grandma, but it is going to be so much fun—and exhausting. And those babies will grow up to be besties!

  3. Granparenting is the absolute best. One great part of this all is the cousins will be so close. What a gift.
